KPN Eliminates External Constraints for Efficient Testing

KPN ITNS is the division of KPN that provides wholesale fiber-based internet, television, and network services to ISPs across the Netherlands. To speed releases, the team needed to run end-to-end tests that depended on systems owned by other divisions and external parties, but access to those environments was slow and unreliable—test set-up could take up to a week, delaying cycles and preventing complete regression testing.

By adopting Parasoft Virtualize to simulate those dependencies, KPN replaced constrained systems with realistic virtual assets (initially for their Wholesale Broadband Access environment and later for additional third-party applications). Tests that once took weeks to prepare now start in minutes, enabling earlier, faster, and more complete testing, automated regression runs, increased test coverage per release, lower costs, and higher team morale; the company is rolling virtualization out across development teams to find defects sooner and accelerate time-to-market.
