A Parasoft Case Study
A federal agency building an air navigation aid to augment GPS needed to meet rigorous RTCA DO-178C requirements for safety-critical embedded C software (DAL B and D). They were hampered by a legacy code-coverage tool that didn’t meet modern needs and poor integration across development and testing tools, which caused delays and made it difficult to produce the verification artifacts required for certification.
The team adopted Parasoft C/C++test and Parasoft DTP to provide unified static analysis, unit testing, and statement/branch/MC/DC coverage integrated with Wind River VxWorks and Workbench. The solution centralized test configurations and reporting, automated host- and target-based testing, enforced coding standards, and delivered detailed coverage visibility—dramatically increasing test automation, speeding validation, and reducing labor and costs while enabling compliance with DO-178C.
