Establishing a Simulation and Validation Environment for Partner Certification

A leading energy organization in a newly deregulated European market faced the task of centralizing communications among 120 market partners serving about 15 million customers. It needed to define a new XML-based message dialect and an API, have partners integrate in parallel with the API’s development, and certify each partner’s ability to send and receive messages correctly—under a strict deadline that, if missed, could disrupt winter energy delivery.

The organization used Parasoft Virtualize to create virtual assets emulating the API and secure AS2/XML communications, letting partners develop and test months before the real API was complete. Virtualize automated validation across roughly 80 certification scenarios, checked payload contents and sequencing, logged messages for an audit trail, and added objectivity and traceability—keeping the rollout on schedule and providing a repeatable approach for future partner certification.
