Accelerating Test Environment Configuration and Parallel Development for a Transition to Agile

One of the nation’s largest retailers faced slow, error-prone performance testing that required days to configure test data and coordinate many dependent systems. Staging environments produced variable, non‑representative response times and rolling environments back after tests was difficult — problems that threatened to derail the company’s planned transition to Agile with its more frequent, shorter testing cycles.

Using Parasoft Virtualize to emulate dependent services (CRM, ERP, etc.) exposed via REST, SOAP and HTTPS, testers could configure realistic responses and tune timing, latency and delays through a GUI to reproduce performance conditions on demand. The result was a dramatic reduction in test data configuration time, broader and more accurate performance coverage, and the ability to model evolving services so front‑end and back‑end teams could develop and test in parallel.
