UDLAP enables remote access to their computer rooms for its 15,000 students and staff

UDLAP, a Mexican university serving about 15,000 students and staff, needed a secure way to keep students connected to campus computer rooms and specialized software when COVID-19 forced classes online. The school also wanted an alternative to VPN that would protect the university network and support many legacy applications, while keeping access simple and cost-effective. Parallels Secure Workspace helped UDLAP provide browser-based remote access from personal devices.

Parallels implemented Parallels Secure Workspace by integrating it with UDLAP’s Active Directory so professors could assign “ready-for-take-over” PCs and students could remotely use campus desktops and licensed applications. The result was fast deployment, minimal training, and strong user adoption with very few support tickets. UDLAP also reported a better cost-benefit ratio, improved security, and the ability for students to run demanding software on university hardware even from low-power laptops.
