Ensuring secure remote access at Hospital del Mar

Hospital del Mar, a large hospital in Barcelona with more than 4,000 employees, needed a more secure way to provide remote access to virtual applications and desktops for staff. In 2019, it began looking for a solution to replace its existing setup, and selected Parallels Secure Workspace for its simplicity, affordability, and better external access security.

Parallels Secure Workspace enabled Hospital del Mar to quickly expand remote access from 50 users to 400 during the pandemic, with rollout completed in about one week. The solution provided MFA, browser-based access from any device, support for smart card readers and digital signatures, and a secure BYOD approach without VPNs; the hospital says it is easy to use, cost-effective, and meets its needs.
