University of Cambridge supports 20,000+ students with PaperCut

The University of Cambridge, a historic institution with over 20,000 students, faced printing difficulties when COVID-19 lockdowns forced a shift to a hybrid working model. Their challenge was to support students and staff divided between remote and on-site work, especially after the deprecation of Google Cloud Print. The university turned to the vendor PaperCut and its product PaperCut MF to find a robust solution.

PaperCut implemented PaperCut MF’s Delegated Print Release feature to allow print jobs to be released by another user on a student's behalf, and Mobility Print to enable easy printing from any device. The solution was so successful that students began asking for the service to be expanded. The results included a highly efficient managed print service that freed up IT staff time and gave the university the confidence to plan a rollout to its 11,000 staff members.
