A PaperCut Case Study
Semester at Sea, a not-for-profit collaboration between the Institute for Shipboard Education and Colorado State University, faced the unique challenge of minimizing paper usage and printing supplies on its floating campus to reduce fuel costs and promote sustainability. The organization needed a user-friendly print management solution to control waste, especially with a constantly changing population of students and staff each semester. They turned to PaperCut to address this challenge.
By implementing PaperCut's quota system, the solution managed printing permissions and allocated allowances for users. This drove more mindful printing behavior, as students had to pay a small fee after burning through their quota and staff needed permission to extend theirs. PaperCut helped Semester at Sea significantly reduce wasteful and thoughtless printing, allowing them to pre-allocate and manage paper supplies effectively while reinforcing the value of this scarce resource onboard.
