American University cuts printers from 1,500 to a few hundred with PaperCut

American University, a private research institution with over 18,000 users, faced challenges with an outdated and inefficient pay-for-print system that was wasteful and difficult to manage. Their decentralized infrastructure, comprising hardware from multiple vendors, lacked centralized management and was outgrowing the needs of their evolving campus. They partnered with the vendor PaperCut to find a new solution.

PaperCut implemented its PaperCut MF solution alongside a fleet refresh, providing a single centralized print management platform. This gave the university visibility into their printing environment, which allowed them to drastically reduce their hardware from 1,500 to a couple hundred printers. The results included significant waste reduction, a smaller carbon footprint, and far fewer troubleshooting requests from students and staff, achieving their goals for sustainability and efficiency.
