Paramount USD, a K-12 district serving a largely low-income, predominantly Hispanic/Latino community in Paramount, California, needed a better way to provide personalized academic support to students. Many learners couldn’t stay after school for help because of transportation, jobs, athletics, or family schedules, and the shift to remote learning during COVID-19 made the need for 24/7 assistance even more urgent. The district turned to Paper’s educational support system to meet this challenge.

Paper provided Paramount USD with unlimited 24/7 homework help, writing feedback, and study support in English and Spanish across hundreds of subject areas. In the first month, students received more than 1,900 hours of extra support, equal to nearly 1.5 school years of class time, and 46% of that help happened outside school hours. Within three months, more than 3,500 students had used Paper, and district leaders reported faster essay feedback, reduced teacher workload, and strong demand for help in math and writing.
