The Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers is a national network of 34 regional nonprofit associations (17 sharing a common platform) that needed to replace a highly customized CMS and CRM with a more open, flexible solution. Faced with the risks and inflexibility of a Drupal Multisite approach, The Forum engaged ThinkShout to implement Drupal for content, Salesforce for CRM, and Pantheon as the hosting and distribution platform.

ThinkShout built a shared Drupal distribution on Pantheon with a new Salesforce integration and a distributed resource library indexed by Solr, enabling each association to customize and deploy sites independently. The result: 17 sites launched on one distribution, faster site spin-ups and safer updates, lower total cost of ownership, scalable resource sharing (4,000+ items planned), and empowered site managers who can test and deploy changes with minimal developer involvement.
