How Mediacurrent and the NY Senate Moved a Highly Complex Drupal Site to Pantheon

The New York State Senate engaged Mediacurrent to support NYSenate.gov, a highly interactive, Drupal-based legislative site that hosts messaging systems, live streams and hundreds of thousands of content nodes and images. Facing an expiring hosting contract and a strict deadline, the Senate needed to migrate a complex, custom implementation — including a dense Apache Solr search — to a new, cloud-based platform.

Mediacurrent and Pantheon collaborated to plan and execute the migration: writing and testing drush scripts, refactoring the Solr search, fixing environment-specific bugs, and using Pantheon’s Multidev sandboxes to speed development and preserve stability. The site launched on schedule, delivering faster feature velocity, improved developer collaboration, responsive support, and an ongoing roadmap that includes new features, third-party integrations and plans to open-source the code.
