Half The Production Time, Double The Win for OPIN & Canada Games

OPIN, an Ottawa-based enterprise Drupal agency, was chosen to build the digital presence for the 2015 Canada Winter Games on a tight schedule after the previous firm departed. With under two years to launch, they needed a countdown, a fully functional mobile experience, and a platform that could handle large traffic spikes during the two-week event.

OPIN moved the project onto Pantheon, eliminating local VMs and using built-in dev/staging workflows and scalable hosting, which cut production time by about 50% and reduced overall costs. The platform’s reliability let the team focus on the mobile app and other deliverables—mobile traffic reached roughly 10,000 hits per day—while developers were freed for higher-value work and the site performed without downtime or scaling issues.
