Forum One + Pantheon a Winning Combination for Fairfax County Public Schools

Forum One, a mission-driven digital agency, partnered with Pantheon to redesign the web ecosystem for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), the 10th largest U.S. district serving nearly 200,000 students. FCPS needed to replace a static, non‑responsive network of school sites—about 200 independently managed properties—that was time-consuming to update, placed heavy demands on school tech staff, and couldn’t handle mobile or traffic spikes.

Forum One built a Drupal 8 solution hosted on Pantheon using an upstream workflow to create a central template and manage downstream school sites, migrating the main site and rolling out satellite sites in batches while training over 24,000 staff. The result is a responsive, scalable ecosystem (main site plus 55+ satellite sites and growing) that makes updates easy to push, reduces site management time, expands publishing roles, and reliably handles traffic fluctuations.
