Case Study: Grand Ole Opry achieves scalable, reliable web performance and faster launches with Pantheon

A Pantheon Case Study

Preview of the Grand Ole Opry Case Study

Country’s Most Famous Stage Runs on Pantheon

The Grand Ole Opry, the 90-year-old home of country music that drives over 2.5 million pageviews a month and is the sole source for its calendar, tickets and livestreams, was running on an archaic web framework with no direct server access or ability to scale. That limitation culminated in a critical failure when the site crashed during the livestream of George Jones’ celebration of life, exposing the need for a modern, reliable platform that could handle sudden traffic spikes and give the team control and speed to update the site.

The Opry rebuilt its site on Pantheon (Drupal) with a multi-environment dashboard and no-ops hosting, enabling faster launches, easy testing, and rapid scaling; they launched a full rebrand in one month and later migrated their WordPress property as well. The result is improved uptime and performance, quicker deployments, less time spent on infrastructure, and freed resources for marketing, new backstage content and preparations for the Opry’s 90th anniversary.
