A Panorama Education Case Study
Millbury Public Schools sought to introduce a formal system for gathering student feedback on teaching, a new concept for many of its educators. The district's challenge was to implement this program in a way that built trust with teachers and addressed their concerns about confidentiality and the use of instructional time. They partnered with Panorama Education to use its survey platform and manage the process.
Panorama Education's solution involved a collaborative approach where the district's Educator Evaluation Committee, comprised of teachers and evaluators, was empowered to make key decisions. This included choosing a shorter survey instrument and scheduling surveys during breaks and study halls to avoid losing class time. To build trust, data was kept confidential through Panorama and was for teacher reflection only, not formal evaluation. This low-stakes approach, championed by the committee, successfully built district-wide support for the program and established a process for gathering feedback without compromising instructional time.
