How Worthington Schools Focuses on Students’ Social and Emotional Needs

Worthington City Schools faced the challenge of creating a safe learning environment that supports students’ intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth, with a particular focus on social and emotional needs like belonging and teacher-student relationships. To address this, Worthington City Schools partnered with Panorama Education and adopted the Panorama Social-Emotional Learning Survey to regularly measure students’ SEL experiences across the district of 10,500 students.

Using Panorama Education’s twice-yearly SEL assessments, Worthington tracked measures such as Sense of Belonging, Teacher-Student Relationships, and SEL skill development, and each of the district’s 19 schools used that data to set school improvement goals. The district reported an uptick in students’ perceptions of belonging (shown at 72%), aligned SEL goals with behavior and academic plans, and launched district-wide actions and convenings to build connections and support implementation — demonstrating measurable improvement and actionable insights from Panorama Education.
