How Park Hill School District Leverages Student Voice on School Climate

Park Hill School District, serving about 11,458 students in Kansas City, MO, sought a more valid and reliable way to gather student feedback on school climate after stakeholders emphasized the need for safe, caring, welcoming schools. District leaders adopted Panorama Education’s research‑backed student surveys and data visualization tools to measure topics like Teacher‑Student Relationships, Belonging, Climate, and Safety and to replace ad hoc survey items.

Panorama Education’s data revealed that while many Park Hill measures ranked in the 70th percentile or higher versus similar districts, the Belonging topic stood at the 50th percentile (43% student score), signaling a clear improvement area. In response, Park Hill launched culturally responsive teaching and expanded AVID while using Panorama to monitor impact, visualize results, and guide targeted interventions to boost students’ sense of belonging.
