How NMPED Empowers Farmington Municipal Schools to Create Safe, Supportive Communities

The New Mexico Public Education Department worked to support districts across the state with better data on mental health, attendance, and community needs. In Farmington Municipal Schools, inconsistent survey tools, small sample sizes, and a lack of comparable data made it difficult to understand perceptions of schools as safe, supportive, and orderly and to show progress against the district’s strategic plan.

Panorama Education provided Panorama Surveys as a single, standardized platform for collecting feedback from students, staff, families, and community members. The district used the data to guide strategic planning, support equity councils, and align school actions with goals around belonging and absenteeism. Results included a 15% increase in students’ sense of belonging at Apache Elementary and a 9% improvement in students’ self-management skills at Northeast Elementary.
