A Panorama Education Case Study
Everett Public Schools, a 27-school district serving 20,000 students near Seattle, partnered with Panorama Education to address gaps in students’ social-emotional learning (SEL). Although the district had improved graduation rates and expanded supports like attendance coaches and mental health services, leaders under Superintendent Gary Cohn sought a coordinated way to measure and deepen SEL supports using Panorama’s Social-Emotional Learning and Data Analytics products.
Panorama Education provided district-wide SEL surveys, disaggregated data reports, and implementation guidance (Panorama Playbook) to identify seven focus areas—Grit, Growth Mindset, Teacher-Student Relationships, School Safety, Self-Management, Sense of Belonging, and Social Awareness—and to monitor progress at district, school, and student levels. As a result every Everett school opted into the Panorama SEL survey, leaders used results to set “State of the School” goals, and measurable baseline findings (e.g., 91% positive on teacher respect; district averages: Grit 55%, Growth Mindset 56%, Teacher-Student Relationships 54%, School Safety 71%, Self-Management 37%, Sense of Belonging 54%, Social Awareness 50%) are guiding expansion of Second Step and a multi-tiered system of supports.
