A Unied Vision for College & Career Readiness Social-Emotional Learning in Racine Unified School District

Racine Unified School District (RUSD), an urban Wisconsin district serving about 19,000 students (70% FRPL), needed a way to benchmark students’ social-emotional growth to support its North Star Vision for college and career readiness. To measure skills like social awareness, grit, and emotion regulation, RUSD partnered with Panorama Education and adopted Panorama Education’s Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) surveys to collect student perception data.

Panorama Education’s SEL surveys and dashboard provided grade-, student-, and subgroup-level insight (for example, Emotion Regulation was 3.4/5.0 for Grades 3–5), enabling leaders to target supports. Using Panorama Education reports, RUSD implemented interventions—Second Step curriculum, STAR mindfulness breathing, and targeted Tier 2 lunch groups—so educators could identify students in need, allocate supports more precisely, and work toward improved regulation, attendance, and academic learning.
