Using Panopto to Increase Student Achievement, Teacher Efficiency and Parental Involvement

Cornwall-Lebanon School District, a K–12 district of about 4,700 students in Lebanon County, PA, needed a way to support teachers across six schools with a very small IT staff, reduce travel-intensive training and support, and maintain instructional continuity for absent students. The district sought an affordable, easy-to-deploy lecture-capture solution that could be used by teachers and students without costly equipment.

The district rolled out Panopto using simple webcams, producing weekly how‑to videos for staff, training teachers, and enabling classroom and student recordings for lessons, presentations and parent viewing. The result was fewer IT work orders and more teacher time for instruction, growing teacher adoption (55+ users), higher student autonomy and skill development, increased parental engagement, and plans to expand access via a Moodle‑based Virtual Academy.
