University of Porto boosts video views 10-fold with Panopto

The University of Porto, a leading institution in Portugal, sought to make video a core part of its academic experience but was hindered by a complex and underutilized video management system. The challenge, led by Instructional Designer Nuno Regadas, was to remove barriers to adoption and tap into the full potential of video as an instructional strategy without adding complexity for faculty or IT.

The university implemented Panopto's video platform, which integrated seamlessly with its existing Moodle learning management system. The solution's ease of use enabled instructors to become self-sufficient, facilitating massive growth. This proved critical for scaling video learning rapidly, with views and downloads jumping 10-fold to nearly 1 million in a 4.5-month period. Panopto also supported students with disabilities and is now central to the university's strategy for reaching new audiences and pioneering flipped classrooms.
