University of Nevada Las Vegas - Customer Case Study

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), a public research university of more than 30,000 students, faced a fragmented video-learning environment—videos were stored across multiple systems and departmental silos just as the campus was migrating from Blackboard to Canvas and expanding hybrid/HyFlex teaching. The university also needed better captioning and accessibility features to meet compliance and provide flexible learning options.

In 2018 UNLV adopted Panopto for its tight LTI integration with Canvas, centralized video management, and built-in captioning, enabling easy in-Canvas viewing and embedding and supporting UNLV’s “RebelFlex” HyFlex classrooms. Adoption grew rapidly: dedicated Panopto-equipped rooms increased from 20 to 150 (including 80 RebelFlex rooms), giving instructors simple recording and upload workflows, improving synchronous and asynchronous access, streamlining student submissions and onboarding, and delivering clear student benefits.
