The School’s Server Malfunctioned But their Panopto Lecture Recordings Still Worked

Thomas Jefferson University, a Philadelphia health‑science institution, depends on Panopto for campus-wide lecture capture. Days before midterms a central server repeatedly failed for three days, putting some 60–70 recent lecture recordings at risk and prompting urgent concern from students and faculty.

Because Panopto’s remote recorders cache scheduled captures for seven days and continue recording offline, all lectures were preserved and automatically uploaded once the server was restored. The outage underscored Panopto’s resilience and support, kept students’ exam preparations intact, and reinforced broad faculty adoption of video-based learning.
