Keio University, a 33,000‑student institution, faced an urgent challenge when COVID‑19 forced most classes online: slow, ad‑hoc video workflows (manual uploads, bandwidth limits, copyright and access issues) made creating and delivering on‑demand and live content impractical and threatened continuity of teaching.

The university implemented Canvas LMS integrated with Panopto to streamline recording, editing, streaming and access control. The result: about 60% of students (roughly 20,000 active users) gained remote learning access, lecturers cut video creation time by ~90% (from about five hours to 30 minutes), and the platform enabled flipped lessons, better search/viewing history, increased faculty use and improved accessibility.
