How VCRP partnered with Panopto to provide video learning options to over 120,000 students at 12 German universities

The Virtual Campus Rhineland-Palatinate (VCRP) is a regional higher‑education service supporting 12 German universities and over 120,000 students. To widen teaching scenarios, promote open educational resources, and blend physical presence with online learning, VCRP needed a centrally managed, software‑only, on‑premises video platform that was flexible, user‑friendly, and multi‑tenanted so each university could use and share content independently.

VCRP chose Panopto and deployed it multi‑tenantly with Johannes‑Gutenberg University Mainz, training local leads and rolling out use cases from lecture capture and bite‑sized tutorials to flipped learning, student recordings, and live‑streamed events. The rollout has produced 11,200 videos with more than 560,000 views, simplifying video production and sharing while expanding student access to video-based learning and regional OERs.
