How TAFE Queensland Switched from MediaSite to Panopto in Just Two Weeks

TAFE Queensland, one of Australia’s largest vocational education and training providers with 5,000+ staff across 60 sites, needed to modernize and consolidate its video tools after a decade on an aging platform and the ad hoc introduction of a second system. The college required a single, cost-effective, LMS-integrated solution that was scalable, secure and intuitive for teachers, and had only a two-week window during semester break to switch systems without disrupting lecture capture.

In 2022 TAFE implemented Panopto, using LMS integration, a redirect server to preserve links, and focused workshops and short training sessions to support users during the two-week migration. The move delivered rapid, near‑universal adoption, thousands of videos (5,830 created), improved accessibility (captions for 1,000+ creators and 7,000 users), richer analytics and interactive features, and measurable gains in teacher video production and student engagement.
