A Panopto Case Study
Haverford College faced the challenge of finding a robust solution for lecture capture and video management. Initially adopted in 2011 to record in-person lectures, the need evolved during the pandemic when professors required a tool for synchronous video conferencing and recording. Their selected conferencing solution had significant limitations in editing, long-term storage, and organization, making it difficult for students to find and review recorded class videos.
Panopto provided the solution by being integrated with the video conferencing system for creating, editing, and managing asynchronous video content. The vendor's platform allowed for easy editing and storage, and Haverford's IT team trained professors on best practices, such as creating short, flipped content. This resulted in a massive increase in usage, with the college logging 11,200 hours of video in a single semester across 22 equipped classrooms. Panopto significantly enhanced accessibility and became an essential tool for hybrid and remote learning.
