University of Dundee Brings Alignment to Learning with Panopto

The University of Dundee, a research university in eastern Scotland with about 14,000 students and 3,000 staff, faced a fragmented video ecosystem that strained IT support and failed to meet accessibility needs. Faculty were using multiple platforms (Kaltura, Vimeo and others), and the university’s initial single-provider solution later proved unreliable — causing lost lectures, mid-lecture AV interventions, slow offshore support, and inaccurate captions.

The university migrated nearly 29,000 videos to Panopto, choosing the platform for its stability, intuitive UI, strong ASR captioning and Blackboard integration. Panopto’s managed implementation delivered more reliable automated capture (important for the School of Medicine), accurate multilingual captions for a community representing 145 countries, streamlined workflows for faculty and students, and improved overall accessibility and user experience.
