Capilano University cuts troubleshooting time and simplifies 28 telecom rooms with Panduit

Capilano University faced challenges with an outdated and disorganized network infrastructure that made troubleshooting connectivity issues difficult and time-consuming for its IT staff. The tangled cabling in telecommunications rooms impacted efficiency for the university's 9,000 students and 1,200 employees. To address this, the university partnered with vendor Panduit for a network upgrade.

Panduit implemented a solution using their Copper Patch Cords, NetKey Keystone Patch Panels, and NetRunner Vertical Cable Managers. By introducing a new layout with color-coded patch cables to identify VLANs, Panduit dramatically cleaned up the cabling, reducing the number of Ethernet connections needed by 550. This resulted in a significant reduction in troubleshooting time, freeing IT staff for strategic projects. The Panduit solution also enabled future expansions, with one post-upgrade room reconfiguration being completed by a single staff member in just one hour, a task that previously took half a day.
