TriHealth turns to Palo Alto Networks Medical IoT Security to support its mission to improve healthcare outcomes

TriHealth, a Cincinnati-based integrated health system with 15,000 employees, two acute-care hospitals and more than 130 care sites, faced growing patient-safety risk as its networked device footprint expanded. With roughly 175,000 connected devices and limited visibility, the security team lacked an accurate inventory, vulnerability insight, and the ability to detect or prevent malicious activity on critical IoMT equipment.

By deploying Palo Alto Networks Medical IoT Security with PA‑Series firewalls and Panorama, TriHealth achieved passive, system-wide device discovery (nearly 26,000 devices identified), real-time risk and compliance assessments, automated Zero Trust policy recommendations, and centralized management. The solution improved governance with clinical engineering, accelerated remediation, helped optimize device usage (reducing unnecessary purchases), and materially strengthened protection of patient care.
