A Palo Alto Networks Case Study
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, the State of Qatar body that delivered infrastructure and operations for World Cup Qatar 2022 across eight stadiums (1.5 million attendees, billions watching), faced the challenge of securing more than 80,000 endpoints—PCs, stadium Wi‑Fi, IoT, OT and more—against ransomware, cyberespionage, fileless attacks and data breaches. With diverse vendors and a flood of alerts, the team needed behavior‑ and AI‑based protection, scalable standardized incident response, and faster resolution to keep the tournament running smoothly.
They standardized on the Palo Alto Networks Cortex platform—Cortex XDR, Cortex XSOAR, Threat Intel Management, Cortex Data Lake, Unit 42 and Cortex Threat Research—while Palo Alto Networks helped configure and staff the SOC. Automated playbooks and 30+ integrations enabled rapid orchestration and remediation: over 80,000 devices were protected and 90% of incidents were remediated and closed within one minute, delivering efficient security, significant operational savings, and a safe, resilient World Cup experience.
