regio iT Increases Performance and Protection with Firewalls from Palo Alto Networks®

regio iT is an IT service provider for municipal authorities and non-profits, supporting about 320 customers and 20,500 endpoints. Facing increasing security requirements and audits (ISO 9001/20000/27001), the company needed a service-oriented security concept with central logging, monitoring and administration, strong application- and content-level inspection, and identifiable access for devices and users (certificates). Their existing firewall/IPS was not detecting some threats and could not provide the segmentation and visibility regio iT required.

regio iT, with DTS Systeme, deployed multiple Palo Alto Networks PA‑5020 and PA‑5050 appliances to replace the perimeter firewall and create logically segmented internal firewalls and virtual instances for customers. The solution delivered immediate threat detection that the previous product missed, content and application identification at perimeter and data-center levels, combined firewall/IPS logging for greater transparency, and virtualization for customer-specific environments—resulting in stronger protection, lower operational overhead, consolidated costs, and increased flexibility for customers.
