A Palo Alto Networks Case Study
Entsorgung + Recycling Zürich (ERZ) is Zurich’s municipal waste-management department, operating 24/7 with about 900 employees and collecting over 30,000 bags of waste daily. Facing Advanced Persistent Threats and other sophisticated attacks, ERZ found legacy antivirus solutions (McAfee, Symantec, HP, Kaspersky) left endpoints vulnerable, created high administrative overhead, and consumed excessive CPU resources — driving the need for a more prevention-oriented, low-maintenance security approach.
ERZ replaced its endpoint stack with Palo Alto Networks Traps (Advanced Endpoint Protection) and WildFire, building on its existing PA-4020 next‑generation firewall. The lightweight Traps agent and WildFire cloud analysis automatically prevent and block known and unknown malware, reducing patching urgency, lowering administrative expenses, improving internal resource allocation, and delivering strong protection with minimal impact on endpoint performance.
