A Palo Alto Networks Case Study
A large multinational defense agency needed a reliable second layer of network defense for its internet gateway, restricted network and secret network, protecting between 3,000 and 10,000 users. Its incumbent solution was costly and from an undesired country of origin, so the agency evaluated nearly 15 cybersecurity vendors to find a secure, agile, and cost-effective alternative.
The agency deployed more than 100 Palo Alto Networks next‑generation platforms (PA-2050, PA-4020, PA-4050, PA-4060) plus VM‑Series virtual appliances, using App-ID and selective IDS/IPS capabilities. The result was proven protection across all three networks, demonstrable simplicity and rapid deployability (teams stood up defenses in under 30 minutes and won readiness exercises), reduced costs under Palo Alto’s per‑appliance pricing, and greater agility for forward deployments.
