KPIT Embraces Digital Transformation With a Different Approach to Cybersecurity

KPIT Technologies, a Pune‑headquartered global IT and engineering services firm with over 12,000 professionals, needed a prevention‑first security strategy as it shifted to native cloud apps, IoT and BYOD under its “Smart Enterprise” initiative. The company’s legacy stack (firewalls, IDS/IPS, web filtering and traditional endpoint AV) could not keep up with dynamic IPs, mobile endpoints or growing application vulnerabilities, and policy management and administration had become a major operational burden.

KPIT deployed the Palo Alto Networks Security Operating Platform — including the PA‑5020 firewall, Traps, Panorama, WildFire, AutoFocus and Magnifier — to centralize management, apply machine‑learning behavioral analytics and automate prevention across network and endpoints. The rollout scaled to 8,000+ endpoints with no new headcount, cut malware success from ~50% to zero, delivered one‑click visibility, reduced rollout cycles from six weeks to two days, and had negligible impact on device performance.
