Jungfrau Railway Group Improves Cyber Defense for Endpoint Devices

Jungfrau Railway Group, which operates the “Top of Europe” railway and related tourism, energy and leasing services in the Swiss Alps, faced rising malware risk across its distributed IT estate—about 400 PCs/laptops and 225 smartphones managed by a 78-person IT team—exacerbated by heavy use of removable media and a wake-up call from the WannaCry ransomware incident. The group needed reliable, always-on endpoint protection to prevent outages and protect customer-facing systems.

Working with Omicron, Jungfrau deployed Palo Alto Networks Traps with WildFire threat analysis, completing central and endpoint installation for roughly 450 Windows clients and 100 servers in three days. The solution delivered broader endpoint coverage and transparent incident visibility, eliminated system reinstalls due to malware, protects PCs, laptops and smartphones for nearly 600 staff, and cut remedial work by an estimated 10–20 days per year, allowing the team to phase out legacy antivirus.
