Italian Cloud Service Provider Takes Network Security to New Heights

Sielte SpA is a 90-year-old Italian cloud and ICT service provider with more than €400M in annual revenue and cloud operations across Italy, Spain, Romania and Nigeria. With roughly 500 customers and about 10,000 devices under management, Sielte faced rising customer demand for managed security services and an increasingly complex threat landscape—exacerbated by a breach of its previous firewall—that threatened internal network assets and service availability.

Sielte conducted a proof-of-concept and then deployed the Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Security Platform—including PA-5050 firewalls, Threat Prevention, URL Filtering (PAN-DB), WildFire and Panorama—for centralized management. The platform detected an active attack during the POC, delivered a holistic preventive posture, boosted network performance by 150%, cut security administration time by 20%, and created a foundation for managed security services and new revenue opportunities.
