Global shipping giant enhances support for BYOD and cloud with Palo Alto Networks

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) is a Hong Kong–based global shipping and logistics company operating in over 60 countries with staff in more than 270 offices. OOCL needed better visibility and control over BYOD users and mobile apps (notably iPhone/iPad), greater oversight of third‑party cloud applications consuming limited international bandwidth, and a replacement for aging firewall appliances.

OOCL deployed a Palo Alto Networks next‑generation firewall solution—including two PA‑5020s, 48 PA‑500s and 20 PA‑200s—across its global sites. The rollout delivered user‑level application and cloud visibility and control (including mobile app support), consistent threat prevention and VPN resilience, and bandwidth prioritization for critical business traffic, simplifying security management across 270+ offices and improving productivity.
