A Palo Alto Networks Case Study
A Fortune 100 financial services company faced the challenge of identifying and monitoring all of its internet-connected assets across its complex network, which was made more difficult by mergers and acquisitions. Without a complete and accurate IT asset inventory, securing these assets was a major challenge. To address this, the company turned to vendor Palo Alto Networks and its product Cortex Xpanse.
The solution implemented by Palo Alto Networks provided automatic discovery and monitoring of all internet-connected assets, serving as a central source of truth. This enabled the security team to identify and remediate critical exposures, including a previously unknown RDP server. As a result, the company eliminated over 20 critical exposures and reduced its number of publicly accessible services from over 1,200 to just 175, significantly reducing its overall attack surface and improving its cybersecurity posture.
