Endpoint Security Reduces Attack Surface for Leading Turkish Bank

VakıfBank, one of Turkey’s largest banks with over 900 branches, nearly 4,000 ATMs and about 16,000 employees (plus operations abroad), faced rising cyberattacks and growing endpoint risk as employees worked off‑network. Traditional signature‑based antivirus repeatedly failed to stop zero‑day and advanced malware in tests, so the bank needed to strengthen endpoint security across roughly 17,000 PCs.

After a summer 2016 proof of concept that tested multiple vendors, VakıfBank selected Palo Alto Networks Traps, which uses multi‑method prevention to block known and unknown threats. A phased rollout to 17,000 machines began in October, delivering reduced attack surface, greater visibility and forensic data for analyzing new threats, smooth performance with no business‑impact, and the ability to retire legacy AV licenses while enabling a more proactive security posture.
