Beam Suntory improves security and performance with Prisma SASE

Beam Suntory, the world’s third‑largest distilled spirits producer with 74 global locations and about 4,500 employees, faced a critical upgrade after a 2018 security incident interrupted back‑office operations. The company’s aging firewalls, hardware web proxy, and data‑center‑only IDS were inconsistent and unscalable, while MPLS outages at 24/7 manufacturing sites caused costly downtime and remote users suffered latency from routing through the data center. Beam Suntory needed a comprehensive security solution (perimeter, identity, proxies) and an SD‑WAN with portal‑based remote management.

Beam Suntory deployed Palo Alto Networks Prisma SASE—combining Prisma Access and Prisma SD‑WAN—to replace legacy components, extend IDS and proxy functionality across the network, and route remote users directly through the cloud. The rollout improved security posture and network reliability, reduced latency and downtime, simplified centralized management and automation (e.g., automated blocking during the log4j event), and eased the shift to remote work; the company is continuing to replace MPLS and plans to adopt ZTNA capabilities.
