Aviva Stadium, Ireland’s 51,700‑capacity landmark venue, faced limited visibility into spectator network traffic after its 2010 reopening—its existing firewalls could not analyze or filter applications, leaving the Wi‑Fi vulnerable during peak events and requiring a cost‑effective, scalable security upgrade.

Working with The NextGen Group, the stadium deployed a Palo Alto Networks PA‑2050 next‑generation firewall on a staged payment plan and added WildFire cloud malware detection. The solution gave granular application and user visibility, blocked known and unknown threats before they reached the network, enabled threat signatures in under an hour, and delivered seamless, secure Wi‑Fi for spectators.
