Case Study: SunRice achieves AU$100K savings, consolidated security, and ransomware protection with Palo Alto Networks

A Palo Alto Networks Case Study

Preview of the SunRice Case Study

Australian Food and Agriculture Giant Sows Seeds for Global Success

SunRice, an Australian cooperative-turned-$1B global food company with more than 2,000 employees and offices in 60+ countries, needed to deliver reliable IT services to remote branches, integrate acquisitions, improve defenses against evolving cyberthreats, consolidate legacy appliances, and gain better visibility and connectivity across its network.

SunRice deployed the Palo Alto Networks Next‑Generation Security Platform (PA-3020s and a PA-200) with Threat Prevention, URL Filtering (PAN‑DB) and WildFire, providing centralized policy management, segmentation and fast deployment (evaluation up in under a day). The rollout consolidated multiple appliances, delivered estimated savings of AU$100K over three years, stopped CryptoLocker and other threats, improved traffic visibility and compliance reporting, and enabled SunRice to standardize and replicate the solution for future data centers.
