Unilever Uses Palisade’s DecisionTools Suite Software to Inform Decisions on Innovation

Unilever, a global fast-moving consumer goods leader with over 400 brands and thousands of projects in its innovation pipeline, faced highly complex, uncertain decisions around product launches, capex and strategic initiatives. To support its Decision Making Under Uncertainty (DMUU) approach, Unilever selected Palisade’s DecisionTools Suite (including @RISK and PrecisionTree) to provide Monte Carlo simulation, decision-tree analysis and structured probabilistic modeling across multi-stakeholder decisions.

Palisade’s DecisionTools Suite was deployed across Unilever’s innovation process and other functions (R&D, supply chain, safety, regulatory), making probabilistic business cases mandatory for all major and complex projects. The solution has raised decision quality and speed, given teams clearer insight into risk drivers (via histograms, sensitivity tornadoes and box plots), increased organizational agility, and helped project teams “think clearly, act decisively and feel confident.” Palisade’s tools now underpin Unilever’s standard DMUU workflow and support decision-making across thousands of projects.
