Shanghai Jiao Tong University, one of China’s top universities, needed a practical way to teach and research complex engineering system design, risk and decision analysis that previously required extensive manual calculations and custom coding. Dr. Li Mian uses Palisade’s DecisionTools Suite—including @RISK, PrecisionTree, TopRank and StatTools—to give students hands-on experience with Monte Carlo simulation, sensitivity analysis and optimization in real engineering applications.

Palisade’s tools were integrated into coursework and research to automate simulations, simplify inputs in Excel, and remove the need for bespoke programming, making analyses faster and more intuitive. As a result, Palisade enabled tasks that once took about 20 hours to be completed in as little as one hour, improved student mastery of decision analysis, and saved substantial time and effort in pricing studies and engine design.
