A Palisade Case Study
Amway, a global direct‑sales manufacturer with more than $10 billion in annual sales and dozens of plants worldwide, faced a major capacity‑planning challenge as roughly $335 million in expansions (including five new sites) approached. To replace slow, error‑prone “spot” analyses and lengthy data collection, Amway engaged Palisade, using its Custom Development services and the @RISK simulation engine to build a more agile, probabilistic long‑range capacity planning capability.
Palisade developed a custom Long Range Capacity Planning (LRCP) tool that embeds @RISK Monte Carlo simulation in an easy‑to‑use Excel interface, letting users run up to 20 “what‑if” scenarios simultaneously and produce intuitive probabilistic reports almost instantly. The LRCP tool reduced analysis time so capacity decisions can be made within a 30–60 minute meeting, has been adopted across plants (helping evaluate shift reductions in Plastics and Liquids and revealing new capacity needs in Nutritional Products), and accelerated Amway’s decision‑making with rapid, data‑driven results.
