Neptune Energy, an independent global oil and gas company, required an engaging method to train its workforce on key health, safety, and environmental (HSE) aspects of working on offshore oil platforms. The company partnered with vendor PaleBlue to move beyond traditional e-learning and develop an immersive, gamified training solution.

PaleBlue implemented a novel, screen-based gamified training package accessible from any work computer. The solution incorporated interactive storylines, characters, and music, including modules for obtaining a work permit and a platform familiarization that featured a 3D model of Neptune's Gjøa platform. The training received overwhelmingly positive feedback from Neptune Energy's end users, who praised its high quality, found it entertaining and informative, and reported it was significantly more engaging than traditional slide-based e-learning.
