European Space Agency (ESA) advances zero-gravity VR testing in 2 weeks with PaleBlue

The European Space Agency (ESA) partnered with PaleBlue to develop a virtual reality system for astronaut training and spacecraft design reviews. The challenge was to create a VR system capable of accurately simulating and functioning in true zero gravity conditions for use on the International Space Station.

PaleBlue conducted a series of parabolic flights to test various VR and XR headsets in microgravity. The solution involved instrumenting hardware and developing software to enable tracking in this unique environment. The results of these experiments will be used by PaleBlue to improve the modeling of its virtual zero gravity engine and to prepare hardware configurations for future space missions.
